About the Role
We are looking for a qualified Mechanical Technician to join our team and support our manufacturing operations. The primary purpose of this role is to assist the manufacturing teams in producing high-quality products efficiently by ensuring the availability of plants and molds. This position presents a valuable opportunity to contribute to the execution of planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will support the factory with plant maintenance to maximize availability and utilization. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing repairs and preventative maintenance routines to minimize equipment breakdowns.
- Ensuring molds are maintained to a high standard to facilitate quality and efficient production.
- Making certain that all necessary equipment, materials, and tools are readily available for work execution.
- Addressing production queries and responding promptly to plant breakdowns, while taking ownership of issues until satisfactory solutions are found.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of safe and practical machinery isolation practices.
- Engaging positively with Health and Safety standards while producing high-quality work.
- Managing waste and cost control measures.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to bring:
- A qualification as a Mechanical Technician (NZCE Mech, Dip Mech Eng, or BE Mech).
- Previous experience in a similar position within a manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment.
- Familiarity with problem-solving and risk identification tools.
- Experience in preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and implementing 5S methodologies.
- A strong track record of maintaining high health and safety standards within a team.
- Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role.
- A positive, reliable, and supportive attitude as a team player.
- A strong work ethic and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Flexibility and adaptability to take on tasks as they arise.
- An excellent attitude towards safety.
- A full driving license is essential, while a forklift license is beneficial but not mandatory.
