Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders, grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. As the largest district health board in New Zealand, we provide services to a population exceeding 650,000 and employ over 8,000 staff. Our organizational values are encapsulated in our promise statement, "Best Care for Everyone," which inspires us to continuously improve the quality of care we provide to every individual and their family.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a full-time Quality and Patient Safety Lead to join our Corporate Quality and Risk Team at North Shore Hospital. In this role, you will help foster a culture where the reporting and investigation of incidents, along with proactive risk management, are standard practices. This approach is essential for enhancing the quality of clinical care, reducing risks to patients, and improving their overall experience.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues across a specific division, providing expert advice and support on various aspects of patient safety. This includes investigating adverse events and complaints, managing risks, writing reports, and facilitating lessons learned. The work environment is dynamic and often complex, requiring a proactive and flexible approach. You will need to prioritize your workload effectively and meet established deadlines.
About You
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in influencing and communicating with both clinical and non-clinical teams at various levels within an organization. Proven change management and analytical skills are essential for success in this role. Your ability to build and maintain strong relationships, manage multiple tasks, and apply critical thinking will be key.
Experience in a healthcare setting is necessary, particularly in the following areas:
- Quality assurance activities, including adverse events, complaints, and corrective actions
- Risk management
- Quality measurement and the use of quality dashboards
- Health and Disability Sector Service Standards processes
- Report writing
- Working within a multi-disciplinary team
While a clinical background is preferred, we recognize that Quality and Patient Safety Leads can come from either clinical or non-clinical backgrounds.
