About the Role We are seeking an Intensive Care Consultant to join our team within the Intensive Care/High Dependency Unit at Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Te Matau a Maui Hawke's Bay. About the Team/Service/Location The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is classified as a Level 2 ICU, providing critical care to both adults and children. Our unit handles a diverse range of cases and is equipped to deliver complex multisystem life support, including non-invasive and mechanical ventilation, extra-corporeal renal replacement therapy, and invasive cardiac monitoring. Our ICU features 13 beds, catering to both High Dependency Unit (HDU) and ICU level care, and is supported by a dedicated team of nine ICU specialists, one Fellow, and 14 Registrars. Intensive Care Physicians have a prominent clinical role within our department and are committed to delivering high-quality medical care. Alongside clinical responsibilities, there are abundant opportunities for teaching, aeromedical transport, ICU leadership, research, quality improvement, and trainee supervision. About You We are looking for candidates who are either registered or eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as an Intensive Care Physician. Applicants should hold FICM or an equivalent qualification that leads to specialist recognition. A commitment to providing top-tier service to the community is essential. We seek individuals with experience in a broad range of Intensive Care Medicine procedures and a proven track record of supervising and teaching junior medical staff.
