About the Role
We are currently seeking consultant anaesthetists to join our supportive and cohesive team at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital. The successful candidates will become part of a dedicated group of approximately 30 anaesthetic senior medical officers and 11 anaesthesia trainees. In this role, you will contribute to enhancing our Anaesthetic Department based on your training and experience, while also participating in our out-of-hours service.
Our work environment is collegial, encompassing a variety of surgical and medical specialties that cater to a diverse patient population. We are committed to ongoing education and the improvement of our services, actively supporting the professional development of junior staff and interdisciplinary education. Our Department is approved by ANZCA for two years of vocational training in anaesthesia.
About the Team/Service/Location
Located in Hastings on the eastern coast of New Zealand's North Island, Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is a large, accredited public facility with 400 beds. We provide both acute and elective care to a population of over 176,000 people. The work within our Department is varied and often presents exciting challenges.
Over the past decade, Hawke's Bay has experienced significant population growth and demographic changes, leading to a wide range of surgical, medical, oncology, and radiological services. As we continue to expand to meet the needs of our community, the next few years promise to be quite dynamic.
Additionally, the private healthcare sector in Hawke's Bay is rapidly growing, offering health professionals opportunities to broaden their practice. Both Royston and Kaweka private hospitals are in close proximity to our facility.

About You
We are looking for candidates who possess either FANZCA or an equivalent qualification that will lead to specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). A commitment to providing high-quality service to our community is essential.
