About the Role
We are currently seeking a Sterilisation Services Department Technician (SSD Technician) to join our team at Bowen Hospital in Wellington. In this full-time, permanent position, you will be responsible for the reprocessing of reusable surgical instruments for the Operating Theatre and other services. Your role will involve monitoring, tracking, and maintaining accurate records, as well as effectively communicating to identify any faults, missing items, or necessary maintenance of equipment. This position requires 80 hours of work per fortnight.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should be an excellent team player who can work accurately under pressure and with limited supervision. A strong commitment to delivering the highest standards of patient safety is essential.
We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications and experience:
- A minimum NZQA Level 3 Sterilising Certificate or equivalent experience
- A current NZSSA CSD Registration Certificate
- Knowledge of assembly and disassembly processes, as well as assessing the functionality of surgical instruments
- Familiarity with sterilising machinery and the ability to troubleshoot related issues
- Experience in safely handling and reprocessing flexible endoscopes
- An NZQA Certificate in Cleaning is an advantage
