About the Role
Our Rostering Support team plays a crucial role in the Human Resource Shared Services (HRSS) family. This team is dedicated to supporting the largest workforce in the South Island, ensuring that our staff is paid accurately and on time. We pride ourselves on our hardworking and dedicated approach, always placing our staff at the center of our efforts.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Providing essential support and advice to our managers.
- Translating work data into accurate wage calculations.
- Serving as the gatekeeper for quality payment data.
In addition to daily responsibilities, you will also participate in various projects and initiatives, such as:
- Collaborating with colleagues and staff to review and improve operational procedures.
- Training and supporting our people leaders and roster transactors.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
- Prioritizing work effectively.
- Providing information for audits.

About the Team
You will be joining a team of nine dedicated specialists who foster an inclusive, friendly, and supportive environment. As a Roster Officer, you will report directly to the Rostering Support Team Leader. Our office is located in Christchurch City Centre, and there may be opportunities for occasional remote work and flexible hours.
About You
To thrive in this role, you should be comfortable navigating a complex, diverse, and fast-paced work environment. We are looking for a resilient, driven individual who can work well under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining high accuracy. An energetic problem solver with a keen eye for detail will excel in this position. A commitment to delivering excellent customer service is essential.
You will work with complex reports, so an intermediate knowledge of systems and reporting tools is necessary. Familiarity with employment agreements and payroll processes is ideal, along with experience in the health sector or other large 24/7 organizations.
Your skills should include:
- Being a team player who values diversity and enjoys collaboration.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- A basic understanding of payroll mechanics.
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Accurate data entry and excellent attention to detail.
