    About the Company Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldier's Hospital is a key facility within Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, an organization dedicated to building a healthcare system that serves all New Zealanders. About the Role We are currently seeking a physician who is passionate about delivering high-quality acute and general medical care to join our general medicine team. This position offers the opportunity to accommodate subspecialty work, and we are open to considering any specialty. About the Team/Service/Location Hawke's Bay is home to a diverse population of approximately 162,000 people, encompassing both urban and remote rural areas. Our services are primarily provided at the Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital in Hastings, which is one of the largest provincial hospitals in New Zealand with a capacity of 400 beds. Our general medicine department handles over 8,000 admissions annually, distributed across four medical wards and a 20-bed acute assessment unit. The department is structured into eight teams, supported by registrars, house officers, and trainee interns. Our medical department fosters a collaborative environment, emphasizing education and continuous improvement, with more than 40 physicians across various specialties. We are actively working on initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, review care models, improve patient flow, and address healthcare inequities. About You The ideal candidate will possess an FRACP or an equivalent qualification and be registered, or eligible for registration, as a specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand. We are looking for someone with a broad skill set, comfortable managing undifferentiated presentations in acute medicine. The successful applicant will be able to provide clinical leadership to our multidisciplinary team and demonstrate a commitment to continuous quality improvement. While the primary focus will be on ward-based care for acute presentations, there will also be opportunities for outpatient clinics and service development.
