Description
About the Company
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to creating a healthcare system that serves all New Zealanders, firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We strive to provide excellent healthcare services in an inclusive environment, welcoming diverse applications from all communities.
About the Role
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is currently looking for consultant anaesthetists to join our supportive and friendly team. This part-time position offers 70 hours per fortnight (0.875 FTE) with permanent, rostered, and rotating shifts.
As a member of our anaesthetic department, which consists of approximately 30 anaesthetic specialists and 11 trainees, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our services based on your training and experience. You will also be involved in the out-of-hours service, contributing to our collegial work atmosphere that encompasses a broad range of surgical and medical specialties, serving a diverse patient population.
We are committed to ongoing education and the improvement of our services, actively supporting junior staff and interdisciplinary team education. Our department is approved by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) for two years of vocational training in anaesthesia.
About the Team/Service/Location
Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is located in Hastings, on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. This large, accredited public facility features 400 beds and provides both acute and elective care to a region with over 176,000 residents.
Our department offers a varied and often challenging work environment, especially considering the significant population growth and demographic changes that Hawke's Bay has experienced over the past decade. With a wide range of surgical, medical, oncology, and radiological services, we are in need of considerable expansion to meet the growing demands.
Additionally, the private healthcare sector in Hawke's Bay is rapidly expanding, providing opportunities for health professionals to broaden their practice. The proximity of Royston and Kaweka private hospitals enhances these opportunities.
Living in Hawke's Bay offers an excellent work-life balance, with access to beautiful beaches, outdoor adventures, great schools, mountains, skiing, fine dining, stunning wineries, and vibrant cities.
About You
We are looking for candidates who possess either FANZCA or an equivalent qualification that would lead to specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ). A commitment to delivering top-quality service to our community is essential.
