About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Ophthalmologist to join our team, which includes other Ophthalmologists, registrars, an orthoptist, and a specialist ophthalmic nurse. In this role, you will work in both the outpatient clinic and the operating theatre. Our department conducts optometrist and nurse-led glaucoma clinics, registrar-led minor procedures clinics, and has nurse injectors for Avastin clinics. Our accredited public hospital has 400 beds and offers both acute and elective care to a regional population of over 162,000.

Our team of Ophthalmologists in Hawkes Bay is known for its collegial atmosphere and commitment to ongoing education. We hold monthly continuing medical education meetings and actively encourage participation in audits. We allocate a generous budget for attending meetings and courses, both in New Zealand and internationally.

About You
The ideal candidate will have a diverse background in general ophthalmology, with subspecialty training in Oculoplastic or Vitreoretinal surgery considered an advantage. You should possess either FRANZCO or an equivalent qualification that allows for specialist recognition. A strong commitment to delivering high-quality service to the community is essential. Applicants must be registered or eligible for vocational registration with the New Zealand Medical Council as a Specialist Ophthalmologist.
