About the Role
We are seeking a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our dynamic team at Whangarei Hospital, located in Northland. Our department provides a full range of general Obstetrics and Gynaecology services, with established connections to Auckland for specialized services such as Gynaecological Oncology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Tertiary Neonatal Care, and Tertiary Fertility. Each year, we support over 2,000 births across our primary and secondary facilities in Northland.
In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team, working on a 1:8 roster to cover acute Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Your responsibilities will include providing direct patient care, managing acute cases, and mentoring House Officers and advanced trainees. We value a positive and proactive attitude, and we are looking for someone who is motivated to make a difference in the public health sector.
Our department offers a wealth of hands-on experience in general Obstetrics and Gynaecology, along with opportunities to pursue special interests. We pride ourselves on fostering strong collegial relationships, and we provide ample teaching and learning experiences. Many of our House Officers progress to complete the OG Diploma or join the OG registrar training programme, and we actively teach 5th and 6th year medical students from the University of Auckland.
