About the Role
We are looking for Psychiatrists to join our well-established mental health and addiction services in Northland. These positions include both new and existing roles, and we invite expressions of interest from candidates across a variety of subspecialties.
Our current specialties include:
- Infant Child and Adolescent Mental Health
- Early Intervention in Psychosis
- Maternal and Infant Mental Health
- Adult Inpatient Unit
- Community Assessment Treatment Team (CATT) and Home-Based Treatment (HBT)
- Consultation-Liaison Team
- Intensive Community Treatment
- Community Adult Mental Health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs Service
- Adult Kaupapa Maori Mental Health
- Regional Dual Disability Service
- Psychiatry of the Older Persons
We have recently opened a new, purpose-built facility called Manaia House in Whangarei. This facility centralizes all community mental health and addiction services in one location, featuring 75 consultation rooms and accommodating more than 250 staff. The layout promotes team collaboration and enhances the delivery of high-quality care across three floors:
- Ground Floor: Services for Adults and Older People
- Middle Floor: Services for Infants, Children, and Adolescents
- Top Floor: Offices and shared staff spaces

About You
To be considered for this role, you must hold or be eligible for specialist (or locum tenens) registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Psychiatry Vocational scope of practice. If you are currently overseas or not yet registered, we can assist you with the application process for obtaining MCNZ registration.
