About the Role
We are currently looking for experienced Carpenters to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position with a minimum guarantee of 30 hours per week. The hourly pay ranges from $26.00 to $40.00, depending on experience. You will have the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure and commercial projects, with site locations determined by project demand. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment and tools to ensure your safety and success on the job.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- Shaping or cutting materials to specified measurements using hand tools, machines, or power saws.
- Following established safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Measuring and marking cutting lines on materials with precision.
- Installing structures or fixtures such as windows, frames, flooring, trim, or hardware using carpentry tools.
- Verifying the trueness of structures using a plumb bob and level.
- Building or repairing cabinets, doors, frameworks, and other wooden fixtures.
- Selecting and ordering necessary materials.
- Assembling and fastening materials to create frameworks or props.
- Removing damaged parts and performing repairs or replacements as needed.
- Maintaining accurate records and providing written progress reports.
- Inspecting structures for damage and performing necessary repairs.
- Erecting scaffolding or ladders for work above ground level.
- Finishing surfaces of woodwork or wallboard.
- Creating structures for concrete work and arranging for subcontractors for specialized tasks.
- Preparing cost estimates and performing minor plumbing, welding, or concrete mixing work as required.
Skills and Experience Required
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in carpentry or a relevant qualification.
- A friendly demeanor with excellent time management and a strong work ethic.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills in the industry.
- A solid understanding of health and safety procedures.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Nationwide Opportunity and Travel
While this position is listed in the Canterbury Region, we are actively recruiting for roles that may be deployed across all regions of New Zealand based on project requirements. These regions include:
North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington.
South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland.
We welcome applicants from any of these regions who are willing to travel or relocate as necessary. Relocation costs will be covered by the company.
