About the Role We currently have full-time and part-time opportunities available for the position of Support Worker. We seek individuals who are flexible with their schedules, as the role involves rostered shifts that cover a variety of hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts. As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to lead meaningful lives at home and in their communities. This role is not only rewarding but also allows you to be creative and engage actively with those you support. Your key responsibilities will include: - Fostering independence by assisting individuals in developing daily living skills, such as using public transport and preparing meals. - Managing daily routines, which includes supporting personal care tasks such as showering, dressing, and medication management. - Encouraging individuals to pursue their goals and interests, helping them engage with their passions and hobbies. - Promoting health and well-being by guiding individuals in making healthy lifestyle choices. - Building strong connections by strengthening relationships between individuals, their families, and the community. For more information about our organization and the role, please visit our website: https://www.idea.org.nz/become-a-support-worker Requirements To be considered for this role, the following qualifications and attributes are preferred: - Previous experience as a Support Worker is advantageous, but we prioritize a positive attitude and compassion. - Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including days, evenings, sleepovers, and weekends. - A calm demeanor and confidence in managing challenging behaviors. - Proficiency in using computers and tablets for daily tasks. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Physical fitness to provide the necessary physical support. - A full New Zealand driver's license. Benefits We offer a competitive hourly rate ranging from $23.84 to $29.10, depending on relevant qualifications, with opportunities to earn more as you gain additional certifications. IDEA Services will support you in completing the Level 2, 3, and 4 Certificates in Health and Wellbeing qualifications.
