About the Role
We are currently seeking a part-time Community Support Worker for a permanent relieving position, offering 24 hours per week. This role is based in Whangarei and provides a competitive hourly wage ranging from $23.50 to $29.10. As a Community Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals to navigate their daily lives, fostering independence and personal growth.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate several key skills and experiences:
- Empathy for individuals facing the challenges of living with a disability.
- Energy and enthusiasm to keep pace with active individuals.
- The ability to remain calm and provide reassurance in various situations.
- Resilience to help establish and maintain boundaries for safety.
- Strong skills in explaining and negotiating effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, allowing you to supportively engage with family members, colleagues, and the individuals you assist.
- A willingness to provide support with personal care and daily living skills.
The ideal candidate will also possess:
- An interest in pursuing a Community Support Worker Level Three or above qualification; we are committed to supporting you in achieving this while you work.
- Experience in supporting individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or challenging behaviors is desirable but not mandatory.
- Reliability, commitment, and a genuine passion for working with people.
- A full New Zealand driver's license and the ability to pass a NZ police check.
- Proficiency in using a computer for basic tasks, including familiarity with programs such as Word, Internet Explorer, and email.
