About the Role We are currently seeking dedicated support workers to join our team across the Northland region. This position is an exciting opportunity for resilient and energetic individuals with a passion for supporting people with health-related issues or disabilities. As a support worker, you will engage in a fulfilling journey that allows you to build strong, trust-based relationships with those you assist. Your role will involve providing invaluable support tailored to the unique needs of the individuals we serve. Responsibilities may include: - Assisting with personal care such as showering and bathing - Supporting household management and meal preparation - Assisting with exercise programs - Facilitating access to the community - Providing bowel, bladder, and catheter care - Assisting with moving and handling, including the use of hoists and manual transfers - Supporting medication management Job Location: Mid/Far North Pay Rate: $30.03 per hour (based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017, reflecting equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications) Employment Type: Permanent or casual We offer various employment opportunities, including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which can be discussed further during the recruitment process. Hours of work: Full-time (30+ hours) or Part-time (up to 29 hours) Days of work: As this is community-based work, rotating rosters will be involved, including morning, evening, and weekend shifts. Your preferred hours can be discussed during the recruitment process. We are looking for individuals who are comfortable covering hours between 7 am and 11 pm, with the duration of shifts varying based on the specific needs of those we support. About You We are looking for calm and confident individuals who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges faced by our service users. The role of a support worker can be both challenging and rewarding, as you play a vital part in enabling individuals to lead fulfilling lives within their communities. Ideal candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes: - Prior personal care experience, preferably in a rest home or community setting - Familiarity with complex medical conditions, such as spinal injuries and traumatic brain injuries - Access to a car and the ability to drive independently (a valid NZ Full Driver's License is required) - A Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or higher - Flexibility to travel anywhere in Northland and work on a rotating roster - A legal right to work in New Zealand Benefits We offer a variety of benefits to our employees, including: - Flexible working hours - Travel allowance in accordance with In Between Travel (IBT) rules - Free Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) services - Free flu vaccinations - A refer-a-friend program Interested?
