Description
About the Company
At Carterton District Council, we take pride in being a close-knit team that is well connected and responsive to the needs and wellbeing aspirations of our community. Our commitment to serving the public is at the heart of what we do, and we strive to create a positive impact in our region.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated team player to join our Waters Operations team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day management of Carterton's water races and rural stormwater services. Our 250-kilometer water races system has been in operation for 120 years, providing clean water to our rural areas. This system not only benefits livestock and agriculture but also serves as a habitat for various species, including fish and invertebrates. Your contributions will help preserve these vital natural waterways while ensuring high-quality service delivery that meets our legislative obligations and community expectations.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for environmental protection and biodiversity. While previous experience in the agricultural sector is advantageous, it is not a requirement. What is essential, however, is a proactive attitude, the ability to build strong relationships with the community and stakeholders, and the capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a high-performing team.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should demonstrate:
- A passion for environmental protection and biodiversity
- Strong relationship-building skills with the community and stakeholders
- A proactive and 'can do' attitude
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Benefits
We offer a range of benefits that contribute to a fulfilling work environment. In addition to a lower cost of living in Wairarapa, our employees enjoy:
- A supportive team atmosphere
- Flexible working arrangements
- Five weeks of annual leave
- KiwiSaver contributions of up to 6%
- Opportunities for professional development
