About the Role As a Senior Building Consenting Officer (Inspections), you will play a vital role in our effective and engaged team that delivers high-quality Building Assurance services. We focus on our customers and are committed to getting things done. We are seeking a highly experienced professional who is driven to enhance team capabilities and maintains a strong customer focus. In this role, you will be responsible for: - Providing technical expertise and advice on matters related to the Building Act 2004, the New Zealand Building Code, and associated regulations up to a Commercial 2 level. - Holding a professional or tertiary qualification that meets the requirements under Regulation 18 of the Building (Accreditation of Building Consent Authorities) Regulations 2006. - Ensuring our customers receive professional, reliable, and timely advice on a wide range of building regulatory matters. - Contributing to the development and maintenance of a technically capable team through mentoring and the professional development of others. - Conducting research and investigations into historical building consents, complaints, and building disputes, guiding them to resolution. - Actively participating in business improvements, team decision-making, and providing technical support to your peers and the leadership team. About You We are looking for someone who is confident and capable of handling complex building applications and queries. You should be energetic, organized, and possess an analytical mindset. Your interpersonal skills should allow you to influence and engage effectively with others. To fit this role, you will need to demonstrate: - A proven high level of technical knowledge in building inspection and significant experience in the regulatory environment. - Experience in providing professional regulatory building inspection services up to a Commercial 2 level, including building and plumbing. - In-depth knowledge and application of the Building Act 2004, the New Zealand Building Code, and associated regulations. - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster effective working relationships. - The capability to mentor and coach others on a technical level, while bringing a positive approach to their development.
