About the Role This pivotal leadership role will involve driving the technical roadmap aligned with our business strategy, positioning Trade Me for future innovations and market leadership. Your success in this position will be measured by your ability to lead strategically while focusing on commercial outcomes and long-term impact. Key responsibilities will include: - Leading and owning the technical roadmap for our Jobs division to ensure alignment with our business strategy, contributing to our competitive advantage and sustained growth. - Empowering engineering teams to deliver high-quality products that create measurable value, while championing the evolution of our engineering practices for increased agility and efficiency. - Balancing new product development with strategic maintenance to ensure the long-term health, reliability, and scalability of our technical platforms, while proactively identifying and mitigating risks. - Cultivating a high-performing, motivated team through coaching, mentoring, and clear communication, enabling them to tackle complex challenges. - Building strong cross-functional relationships with product, design, data, and engineering teams to align technical efforts and ensure holistic solutions that drive strategic outcomes. - Advocating for best-in-class engineering practices, architectural decisions, and innovative solutions that enhance our products and capabilities. - Proactively managing technical risks, dependencies, and challenges to ensure smooth project delivery and maintain system integrity. Requirements To thrive in this role, you will bring the following qualifications and experience: - A minimum of 10 years of experience as a practitioner with a deep understanding of architecture, design patterns, and modern engineering practices, along with a proven track record of delivering complex technical initiatives in agile environments. - At least 5 years of people leadership experience, successfully mentoring and developing medium-to-large engineering teams to achieve strategic objectives. - Technical breadth and depth across various technologies and architectures, with the ability to collaborate with technical leaders to establish impactful architecture and practices. - A customer-centric focus and a passion for creating exceptional user experiences, understanding how technology directly impacts user value. - A strategic mindset that allows you to contribute to the overall strategy, build a clear technical vision for the Jobs division, and inspire diverse teams while anticipating future needs. - Results-oriented approach with strong commercial acumen, capable of translating technical decisions into measurable business impact. - Collaborative and influential skills to build alignment with teams and stakeholders, driving consensus toward strategic goals. - Strong communication and storytelling abilities to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to various audiences, influencing stakeholders and celebrating achievements. - Problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a strong analytical capability to make informed decisions under pressure, even in ambiguous environments.
