We are currently seeking dedicated individuals to join our team at Whangarei Hospital, specifically within our Medical Wards.
About the Role
In this role, you will work under the guidance of a registered nurse or midwife as a Health Care Assistant (HCA). Your primary responsibilities will include assisting patients with their daily living activities, ensuring their comfort and safety, and performing delegated patient care tasks. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining a clean, tidy, and organized environment for our patients.
As an HCA, you will be a vital member of our multi-disciplinary team. It is important to note that while you will provide support and contribute to patient care, you will not be responsible for decision-making related to patient assessment, planning, or evaluation. Your focus will be on enhancing patient comfort and ensuring a high standard of care.

About You
Essential Requirements
- Proficiency in verbal and written English
- No prior experience is necessary, as we provide comprehensive training on site
Desirable Requirements
- New Zealand Certificate in Health and Well-being (Advanced Support) Level 4
- Current first aid certificate
- Two years of experience in the health sector as an HCA or in a related role
- Experience working with patients who exhibit challenging behaviors
