About the Role We are currently seeking both full-time and part-time Anaesthetic Technicians to join our supportive team on a fixed-term basis. If you are a recent graduate from the Bachelor of Perioperative Practice program, this is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your clinical skills in a nurturing environment. This role will involve covering parental leave, and you will have the chance to work in various theatres, gaining exposure to trauma, critical care, elective surgeries, and more. Our facilities include: - Trauma and critical care theatres - Elective and acute theatres, such as gynaecology, urology, orthopaedics, and plastics - General surgical theatres, including colorectal, breast surgery, and endoscopic procedures - Complex theatres for cardiothoracic, vascular, neurosurgery, maxillofacial, and otolaryngology procedures - Care for paediatric patients from neonates to over two years old - Opportunities to work with our Cardiac team Key Responsibilities In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the delivery and evaluation of safe, patient-centered anaesthesia care. You will provide professional, skilled clinical, and technical support to the anaesthetist and work collaboratively as part of the theatre team to ensure maximum quality care for our patients. The salary for this position will be contingent upon experience and will align with the Allied, Public Health, Scientific, and Technical Collective Agreement. About the Team/Service Our team at Waikato Hospital is a dynamic and eclectic group of professionals from various cultures and backgrounds, including ODPs, RNAAs, and Anaesthetic Technicians. Thames is conveniently located about 1.5 hours from Auckland, Hamilton, and Tauranga, nestled between the Firth of Thames and the beautiful Coromandel ranges. The Coromandel region is famous for its stunning outdoor landscapes, including the picturesque Pinnacles Walk and the abundant waters of the Hauraki Gulf. About You To be successful in this role, you should have recently completed your Bachelor of Perioperative Practice or hold full registration with the Medical Science Council (with no conditions) and current APC. You should possess knowledge of airway management, experience with various patient monitoring machines, and an understanding of the essentials for starting your day in the theatre. Flexibility to work rostered shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and nights, is also required.
