About the Role We are currently seeking a Psychiatrist to join our Mental Health and Addiction Services team at Timaru Hospital, located in South Island, New Zealand. This permanent position is offered at 0.8 FTE, which equates to 64 hours per fortnight. In this role, you will provide quality specialist psychiatric services across our Inpatient, Community, and Addictions teams. You will collaborate closely with our skilled Nursing and Allied Health staff to support our clients, covering both acute care and on-call responsibilities. Our Mental Health and Addiction Services are based on the Timaru Hospital campus, which is undergoing a significant refurbishment to enhance our facilities. About You We are looking for an experienced Psychiatrist who is eligible for Vocational Registration with the New Zealand Medical Council or is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Psychiatrists, or holds an equivalent qualification. Our approach in South Canterbury is grounded in a Strengths Based Model of Care, and we invite someone with clinical expertise to contribute to our well-regarded Mental Health and Addictions Service, recognized as a priority need area by both the government and the general public. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues from all disciplines are essential in this role. Why Timaru and the South Canterbury Region? Salary Range This role falls under the terms and conditions of the Senior Medical Officers Collective Agreement.
