About the Role
We are currently seeking expressions of interest for a Geriatrician to join our Assessment Treatment and Rehabilitation (ATR) Unit at Timaru Hospital. This role involves sharing in the care of our 17-bed sub-acute care unit and participating in both community and clinic visits. Our focus is on service development to enhance community engagement and lead innovative health services for older persons, in consultation and partnership with primary care.
The newly designed ATR unit provides a coordinated multidisciplinary service aimed at restoring functional abilities and enabling individuals to live as independently as possible.
Timaru Hospital, part of Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - South Canterbury, serves a district population of approximately 50,000 residents and features 131 beds. The hospital is currently undergoing a significant refurbishment program and offers a range of critical 24/7 services, including Emergency Department, Intensive Care/Coronary Care Unit, General and Orthopaedic Surgery, ENT, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Oncology, Palliative Care, Internal Medicine, and Paediatrics.

Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must hold registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Detailed information on registration requirements can be found on the Medical Council website.
