About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced Cook to join our team at a brand-new site in Wiri, Auckland. In this role, you will assist in maintaining the quality and customer service standards of our canteen, which includes making coffee. Reporting directly to the head chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient canteen operations while upholding high production and customer service standards.

Standard Work Hours
Monday to Friday: start between 5:00 AM and 9:00 AM
Saturday: 7:00 AM to 1:30 PM

Responsibilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing a variety of delicious food items for our site cafeteria—our staff truly enjoy their meal breaks.
- Providing exceptional customer service by taking orders and processing sales using the cash register.
- Handling food preparation tasks, including retrieving raw ingredients, cutting meats and fruits/vegetables, and assembling sandwiches.
- Brewing coffee and restocking supplies such as coffee, sugar, tea, and milk in the lunchroom area.
- Washing and drying dishes while adhering to strict hygiene standards.
- Maintaining cleanliness in food preparation areas and equipment.
- Receiving and storing raw ingredients and food supplies, including conducting stock takes.
- Assisting with office and administrative tasks to support the cafeteria’s functionality.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following experience and skills:
- Barista experience is advantageous.
- Previous experience in food service and customer-facing roles.
- Familiarity with kitchen food preparation or similar cooking roles.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Understanding of hygiene regulations and the importance of cleanliness in food settings.
- Ability to work efficiently and make sound decisions in a kitchen environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.
- Health and safety knowledge or food-grade qualifications are a plus.
