About the Company At Hays Recruitment, we are excited to present a remarkable opportunity for experienced Sheet Metal Fabricators to join us at McMurdo Station in Antarctica. This unique role offers the chance to work in one of the most remote and challenging environments on the planet, providing an adventure of a lifetime. About the Role We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified candidates for assignments at McMurdo Station, which hosts approximately 1,000 residents during the summer season. The compensation for this role is as follows: - For wages: $45 per hour - For contracting: $55 per hour We have two intake periods available, and you can choose to participate in one or both: - Intake 1: October 2025 to February 2026 - Intake 2: February 2026 to October 2026 Requirements To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria: - Unrestricted New Zealand work rights (please note that we cannot provide sponsorship or visa variations) - Proven experience as a sheet metal fabricator, with references - New Zealand Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) (Level 4) with a strand in Light Fabrication, or an equivalent qualification from overseas What to Expect When You’re Down There During your time at McMurdo Station, we will provide: - Accommodation in a shared room - Free meals - Free flights from any major New Zealand airport - A work schedule of Monday to Saturday, from 7 AM to 5 PM What to Expect Before You Start Prior to commencing your assignment, you will undergo several checks, including: - Medical and dental evaluations - Criminal background and security screenings - Required vaccinations What to Do Now If you are interested in this opportunity, please apply through the provided link.
