We are currently looking for experienced Sheet Metal Fabricators for a unique assignment at McMurdo Station in Antarctica, one of the most remote and challenging locations on Earth. About the Role The position is based at McMurdo Station, which hosts approximately 1,000 residents during the summer season. We are offering two intake periods for this role, allowing you to choose one or participate in both: Intake 1: October 2025 - February 2026 Intake 2: February 2026 - October 2026 Compensation for this position is as follows: $45 per hour for wages and $55 per hour for contracting. Requirements To be considered for this position, you should possess the following qualifications: - Unrestricted New Zealand work rights (please note that we are unable to provide sponsorship or visa variations) - Proven experience as a sheet metal fabricator, along with references - NZ Certificate in Engineering Fabrication (Trade) Level 4 with a strand in Light Fabrication, or an equivalent overseas qualification What to Expect When You're Down There During your time at McMurdo Station, you can expect the following: - Accommodation provided in a shared room - Free meals - Complimentary flights from any major New Zealand airport - A work schedule from Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 5 PM What to Expect Before You Start Prior to your assignment, you will need to undergo several checks, including: - Medical and dental assessments - Criminal background and security screenings - Vaccinations as required What to Do Now If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please apply through the provided link.
