About the Role
We are currently seeking a skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our operations team. This role is crucial in supporting various structural and civil works projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in TIG and Stick welding and will play a vital role in ensuring our projects meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will perform TIG and Stick welding on structural steel, pipework, and other components as needed for our civil infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will also include fabricating and assembling metal structures and equipment based on technical drawings and site specifications.
You will operate workshop tools such as grinders, saws, and cutting torches, ensuring that all work is completed to the required specifications, tolerances, and quality standards. Regular inspections and maintenance of welding equipment and tools will also be part of your duties.
It is essential to follow health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times, both on-site and in the workshop. You will collaborate with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to complete tasks efficiently and assist in site installations and repairs as required.
Requirements
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A New Zealand-trained Welder/Fabricator
- A minimum of 3 years of welding and fabricating experience in New Zealand
- Proficiency in TIG and Stick welding on structural steel, pipework, and other components
- Competence in reading and interpreting technical drawings and plans
- Ability to fabricate, cut, and weld structural steel and pipe to civil engineering specifications
- Familiarity with both workshop and on-site environments
- A strong understanding of welding safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements
- Relevant welding qualifications or certifications, such as AS/NZS 1554 or equivalent
