About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant to join our team on a permanent basis, working 0.8 FTE (32 hours a week). This role involves various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights, from Monday to Sunday. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing care to patients while supporting our clinical staff. Your daily responsibilities may vary based on the needs of the ward.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting nursing staff with patient care
- Cleaning and preparing rooms
- Restocking room equipment and trolleys
- Ordering supplies
- Interacting with tamariki and whanau as directed by nursing staff
Please note that this position involves minimal patient contact.
About the Service
Our Children’s Emergency Care unit has been thoughtfully designed for tamariki and their whanau. We focus on creating a child and family-friendly environment. Our multidisciplinary healthcare team collaborates closely with whanau to ensure optimal health outcomes for the tamariki in our care.
About You
We are looking for someone who thrives in a multidisciplinary team environment and possesses excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. You should maintain a high level of confidentiality and perform well under pressure.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience as a Healthcare Assistant or in a similar role (desirable)
- Flexibility to work all shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and nights from Monday to Sunday
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Effective time management abilities and the capability to prioritize tasks
- The ability to work efficiently and autonomously, as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Initiative and a proactive approach to work
- Proficiency in using a computer for ordering supplies
