Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and aims to build a health system that effectively serves all New Zealanders.
About the Company
At Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, we are dedicated to providing exceptional healthcare to our communities. We believe in fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce that reflects the rich tapestry of our society, allowing us to better understand and meet the needs of those we serve. We encourage applications from Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities.
About the Role
We are seeking a registered nurse to join our team. In this role, you will provide triage services, conducting assessments and offering advice to police and ambulance services during call-outs involving police officers.
You will collaborate closely with local mental health services to develop comprehensive response plans that guide other agencies on how best to support individuals and their support persons when they reach out to emergency services. As the needs of the District evolve, you will adapt your approach and may be required to take on additional responsibilities.
We expect you to contribute to our District and nursing goals and values, promoting Te Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand Capital, Coast and Hutt Valley as a center of excellence for nursing practice.
About the Team/Service/Location
The Co-Response Team (CRT) is an interagency unit comprising a Police Officer, Paramedic, and Mental Health Care Practitioners. Together, we provide coordinated and responsive services to individuals experiencing mental health crises who contact emergency services.
Our team focuses on engaging with various services to effectively meet client needs while ensuring that the client remains at the center of the decision-making process. By having a Police Officer, Paramedic, and Mental Health Professional respond together to mental health emergencies, we enhance the service provided to individuals and significantly reduce unnecessary transports to emergency departments and the use of police mental health powers.
About You
We are looking for a registered nurse with a minimum of five years of post-registration experience, preferably with a background in crisis assessment teams.
