We are excited to announce the opening of a small day stay surgery centre in Wellington, scheduled for late 2025. As we embark on this new venture, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to join our senior management team. This role presents a unique opportunity to build and shape a new team and culture within our organization.
About the Role
In this leadership position, you will play a vital role in establishing and managing the theatre services team from the ground up. Your responsibilities will include providing professional nursing leadership and clinical management, overseeing daily clinical operations and supply chain activities, recruiting and managing your team, and ensuring the efficient delivery of high-quality patient care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the operational and clinical aspects of two operating theatres and their associated supply chain.
- Building your team from scratch by recruiting, training, and supporting team members while enhancing their strengths and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Overseeing the implementation of clinical policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborating closely with the General Manager and the Perioperative Services Manager, as well as other key stakeholders, to contribute to the overall success of the surgical centre.
As part of a small team, you will be expected to be hands-on and may need to step in to assist with theatre duties when required.
About You
We are looking for a Registered Nurse with a current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) and experience in New Zealand theatre nursing. You should ideally be an ACNM or have acted as a Theatre Manager with hands-on experience, ready to take the next step in your career.

- Proven ability to lead and develop a team, recognizing and nurturing individual strengths.
- A focus on efficiency and quality, along with a "can do" attitude to manage unexpected challenges.
- Strong clinical expertise and knowledge of operating theatres, surgical services, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to interpret and use data to drive quality improvements.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Benefits
We offer a competitive remuneration package ranging from $130,000 to $150,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include:
