Compensation: $88,560 to $99,630 per annum

About the Role
We are seeking a Community Podiatrist who will collaborate with Primary Health Care Providers and Community Partners to deliver essential podiatry services, particularly focusing on equitable access for Māori and Pacific communities. In this role, you will emphasize early interventions and preventative care to reduce hospital admissions and improve quality of life outcomes, including preventing amputations.
Position Objectives
The primary objectives of this role include:
- Providing podiatry services to priority communities within the Southern Region.
- Supporting preventative health outcomes through the delivery of podiatry services and workforce development in line with best practice standards.
- Reducing barriers to access by collaborating and coordinating with primary health care processes within the Southern Region.
- Collaborating with WellSouth teams to analyze population data trends to guide best practices in podiatry services, while helping communities achieve data sovereignty.
- Partnering with both internal and external clinical teams to meet agreed health targets.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you will need to meet the following qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Health Science in Podiatry or an equivalent qualification.
- A current annual practicing certificate in accordance with the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2002 and registration with the Podiatrists Board of New Zealand, or eligibility for registration.
- Five to six years of relevant podiatry work experience.
- Capability to provide diagnostic, preventative, and rehabilitative treatment for conditions affecting the feet and lower limbs, including diabetic foot care.
- Progress towards Podiatry NZ or other high-risk foot education.
- Ability to manage unexpected situations and crises while maintaining professionalism.
- Experience in wound care, long-term conditions, and working with priority communities (Māori, Pacific, etc.) is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.
