About the Company
At BestStart Naenae, we are dedicated to providing exceptional early childhood education (ECE) in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Our center is designed to support the growth and development of tamariki at every stage. We take pride in our strong connections to the local community and schools, and our curriculum is enriched with local pūrakau (stories) while guided by the principles of Te Whare Tapa Whā. This holistic approach ensures that we foster both learning and wellbeing.
About the Role
We are currently looking for a passionate Caregiver or a Teacher in Training to join our dynamic and supportive team. This role offers flexibility as we welcome:
- A Caregiver who has a special fondness for infants and toddlers (ages 0–2), providing nurturing and responsive care in a calm environment.
- A Teacher in Training who is either currently enrolled or applying for a Level 7 ECE qualification (Bachelor or Graduate Diploma) and is eager to grow alongside our experienced teaching team.
This is a permanent position with the opportunity to work between 30 to 40 hours per week.
What You'll Do
In your role, you will:
- Provide safe, nurturing, and engaging care for our tamariki.
- Collaborate with a team dedicated to championing the learning and wellbeing of children.
- Support center activities and daily routines, contributing to an environment where children feel secure and can thrive.
- For Teachers in Training, engage in planning, curriculum development, and study support while advancing your practice.

At BestStart, we are proud leaders in the ECE sector, offering our team members a range of benefits, including:
- Pay parity for qualified Kaiako.
- Paid study support for Year 2 and 3 Teachers in Training.
- Online learning through Whare Ako and tailored professional learning and development opportunities.
- Clear career pathways and wrap-around support to help you grow your career in your own way.

- Free annual flu vaccinations and EAP counselling.
- Sick leave available from your first day.
- A wellbeing programme and additional leave for long service.
