We are currently seeking a dedicated professional to join our high-functioning regional orthopaedic service at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim. About the Role We are offering a permanent part-time position, requiring 56 hours of work per fortnight, with additional on-call responsibilities after hours. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide comprehensive elective and acute orthopaedic care to the Marlborough population. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive orthopaedic care, including consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for both trauma and elective cases. - Perform surgical interventions with precision while prioritizing patient safety. - Participate in the on-call roster to effectively manage acute orthopaedic emergencies. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create and implement individualized care plans. - Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the department's clinical governance. - Provide teaching and mentorship to junior doctors and medical students. - Stay abreast of advancements in orthopaedic care and introduce innovative practices within the department. About You The ideal candidate will possess: - Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons or an equivalent qualification. - Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate with a vocational scope in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Medical Council of New Zealand. - Proven expertise in both trauma and elective orthopaedic procedures. - A subspecialty interest in areas such as upper limb arthroplasty, spine, or pediatrics will be considered an asset. - Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with patients and colleagues. - A commitment to teamwork, patient-centred care, and continuous professional development. About the Team/Service/Location The orthopaedic team at Wairau Hospital is part of a wider, regionally integrated service across Te Tauihu, collaborating closely with our colleagues at Nelson Hospital. Our team comprises skilled orthopaedic surgeons, registrars, house officers, clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, and anaesthetic and theatre teams, all dedicated to providing high-quality, patient-centred care.
