Health New Zealand, Nelson Marlborough is inviting experienced Paediatricians to apply for a permanent position at Wairau Hospital in Blenheim. About the Role
This is a permanent position at 0.6 FTE, equating to 48 hours per fortnight, with a 1:4 on-call roster. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering quality healthcare services to children from birth to early adolescence in the Marlborough region. You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team, which includes three other experienced General Paediatricians, as well as RMOs, midwives, and nurses, all committed to making a positive impact on child health.
In this role, you will participate in the on-call roster to cover acute general paediatrics, a Special Care Bay Unit (from 34 weeks gestation), and various outpatient services. You will also have the opportunity to supervise and teach medical students, junior doctors, and nursing/midwifery colleagues.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Expertise and experience in an acute secondary care hospital setting, contributing to the advanced care of acute paediatric inpatients and a full spectrum of general paediatric outpatients.
- Experience in General Paediatrics and Neonatology, with special interests that complement our current team. A focus on child development and behavior is desirable.
- Qualifications to join the Paediatric MEDSAC team.
- A current accredited Advanced Paediatric Life Support certification or equivalent.
- Eligibility for an Annual Practising Certificate and vocational scope of Paediatrics with the Medical Council of New Zealand.

The compensation for this position is based on the current Senior Medical and Dental Officer collective agreement, determined by your skills, experience, and vocational registration in New Zealand.
