About the Role Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is making significant investments in the development of renal services to better support individuals living with renal disease throughout the Bay of Plenty. This initiative includes the establishment of a dedicated multidisciplinary team for renal services and the expansion of haemodialysis capacity in both Tauranga and Whakatane. Currently, we have five Physicians working in renal and acute general medicine, and we are seeking to recruit an additional Senior Medical Officer (SMO) to join our service. The successful candidate will share responsibilities for an acute general medical inpatient team on a 1:3 rotation and will have designated non-acute time dedicated to subspecialty nephrology service delivery. This role encompasses both Tauranga and Whakatane and fosters connections with wider renal services across the Te Manawa Taki (Midland) region. About You We are looking for a highly skilled clinician who possesses excellent clinical and interpersonal abilities, along with a genuine interest in developing renal services across the district. Familiarity with Māori health issues and an understanding of the increasing ethnic diversity in the region would be advantageous. Key qualifications include the ability to collaborate with, and when necessary, lead multidisciplinary teams. A strong commitment to patient safety and clinical governance is essential. Furthermore, we seek an individual who can promote a culture of learning among both undergraduate and postgraduate staff, supported by the Bay of Plenty clinical school and the University of Auckland, which also offers clinical research opportunities.
