About the Role
We are currently seeking a Radiologist to join our team in Gisborne, New Zealand. This full-time, permanent position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a diverse community while enjoying a supportive work environment and an excellent work-life balance.
In this role, you will utilize your general radiology skills, including ultrasound, MRI, and CT, within a hospital-based department. Our services encompass a mix of inpatient, emergency, and outpatient imaging, serving a community of approximately 47,000 people. Your responsibilities will be divided into 70% clinical duties and 30% non-clinical tasks. Additionally, you will participate in the on-call roster, which currently requires at-home availability one night out of every four.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include interpreting imaging exams, triaging and protocoling imaging requests, consulting with referring clinicians, and providing support to our radiology technology staff. While light intervention and mammography are optional, there will be opportunities for you to teach local medical and surgical house officers as well as radiology registrars within the Midlands Region.
We are looking for candidates who are eager to collaborate with our Head of Department and other team members to develop new imaging services and contribute to continuous improvement within our Radiology Department. You will also have the chance to be part of an exciting new chapter at Gisborne Hospital with the establishment of a state-of-the-art medical imaging research center. The Matai Medical Research Institute focuses on mild traumatic brain injury and aims to position Gisborne as a world-leading center in MRI.

About You
To be considered for this position, you must hold Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) Vocational registration in the Scope of Practice of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology or be an overseas-trained Radiologist eligible for MCNZ registration under the Special Scope of Practice Locum Tenens category.
