About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Chef to join our team at Tupuanuku Hall of Residence in Christchurch. In this part-time position, you will play a crucial role in nourishing student life by preparing and presenting high-quality meals. You will also maintain kitchen operations and contribute to menu development that accommodates diverse dietary needs. This role is permanent and will operate during education terms.
Your Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for the following:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting a variety of meals while ensuring portion control and quality standards.
- Receiving, storing, and rotating kitchen supplies, while maintaining appropriate stock levels and hygiene.
- Upholding a clean and safe kitchen environment in compliance with food safety regulations.
- Supporting menu planning to cater to special dietary and cultural requirements.
- Coaching and collaborating with kitchen team members to ensure smooth operations.
About You
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
- An NZQA Level 4 Certificate in Cookery (or equivalent).
- Previous experience in a similar cooking environment.
- Experience in baking will be considered an advantage.
- Strong communication skills and a flexible, can-do attitude as a team player.
- Physical fitness, reliability, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.
