About the Role
We have an exciting fixed-term opportunity for a General Urologist to join our Urology department at Hawkes Bay Hospital for sabbatical leave cover from January to July 2026. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive healthcare services, including outpatient clinics, consultations, and urological procedures such as cystoscopy, prostate biopsy, and urodynamics. You will also be responsible for coordinating investigations and treatment plans, in addition to providing non-contact assessments and advice.
As part of our team, you will collaborate with the unit registrar, an Australasian urology trainee, for consultations and inpatient management. The on-call roster for urology is 1 in 4, and you will conduct both acute and elective operations, ensuring a balance of regular elective surgeries. Urology outpatient clinics are held in Hastings.
About the Team/Service/Location
As a Specialist in Urology, you will work alongside other professionals in our department, providing both outpatient and inpatient care for patients requiring specialist urology services. This includes offering phone consultations and advice to general practitioners and other medical colleagues.

About You
To be considered for this position, you must have, or be eligible for, specialist or locum tenens registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Urology Vocational scope of practice.
