We are currently experiencing dynamic growth, and our people are at the heart of our operations every day. We offer a supportive working environment, competitive hourly rates, subsidised medical insurance, and educational training opportunities for our team members and their dependents. About the Role We are looking for a full-time Quality Assurance Technician to join our Chipseal Division in Christchurch. In this hands-on role, you will support our surfacing team by providing accurate and timely data to ensure the highest quality results. You will be responsible for overseeing documentation control and monitoring the quality of various roading surfaces, which is crucial for maintaining our high standards. Your daily responsibilities will include onsite field testing, applying mathematical and machinery-based procedures. To enhance your experience, you will occasionally assist the team directly on site, getting involved in the action with tools in hand. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should bring the following qualifications and skills: - Prior experience in sealing, along with knowledge of aggregates and surfacing (both hot mix and chip-sealing), and an understanding of these materials and their applications. - A Class 1 Driving License (with WTR endorsement being a bonus). - Experience in civil and roading projects in an engineering or technical quality control capacity is advantageous. - Strong technical, mathematical, and analytical skills. - A bitumen safety certificate is desirable; we can support you in obtaining this certification. - The ability to work both night and day shifts, including weekends. - Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Benefits We offer a competitive hourly rate with guaranteed 40 hours of work per week. Additionally, you will have opportunities to upskill and gain further licenses. You will join a supportive team that treats each other like family, with ongoing training and development to help you achieve your career goals. Career development opportunities are available within Higgins and the broader Fletcher Building group of businesses. You will also have access to Fletcher Building's Benefits Programme and will receive brand new personal protective equipment (PPE). Higgins is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace. The successful applicant will be required to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing, along with a health check to ensure fitness for work. We are actively looking to fill this role and encourage you to apply as soon as possible. Applications will be reviewed regularly, and we reserve the right to close the advertisement before the stated closing date. At Higgins, we recognize that women and minority groups may hesitate to apply for roles unless they meet 100% of the requirements. If you are interested in this position but feel you may not meet every criterion, we encourage you to apply anyway. We value diversity and believe it enriches our workplace, making us better together.
