    About the Company We are Extrastaff, a leading Labour Hire Company dedicated to providing skilled workers for infrastructure and commercial construction projects throughout New Zealand. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality services to our clients, and we are currently seeking dedicated Construction Technicians to join our team in full-time, permanent positions. About the Role We have full-time Construction Technician roles available across all regions of New Zealand. The pay ranges from a minimum of $26.00 per hour to a maximum of $40.00 per hour, with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours per week. Our technicians will have the opportunity to work on major infrastructure and commercial projects, with site locations determined by project demands. We provide all necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools to ensure a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities As a Construction Technician, your responsibilities will include: - Performing tasks within your skill set that are essential to our business operations. - Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks while delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations. - Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level. - Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete. - Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and laying hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors. - Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches. - Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms using various tools. - General labouring and cleaning of construction sites as required. - Loading and unloading construction materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them around building sites. - Performing any other duties as assigned. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience: - Some experience in the construction industry is preferable, but not essential. - A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic are essential. - A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry. - Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures. - Reliability and a strong work ethic. - Ability to fabricate and install custom joinery and cabinetry. - Experience with general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, and skirting and architraves. - Precision in measuring and cutting materials. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. - Collaboration with other trades as needed. - Must be able to pass a criminal check and drug test. Nationwide Opportunity and Travel Although this role is listed in Waikato, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, depending on project requirements. The regions include: North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington. South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland. We invite applicants from any of these regions, and candidates must be willing to travel or relocate as needed.
