ConsultANZ is a reputable firm specializing in infrastructure projects. We are currently seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join our team on a large-scale, technically challenging infrastructure project in Canterbury, New Zealand. About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for fostering a proactive safety culture and ensuring adherence to regulatory and contractual health, safety, and environmental (HSE) compliance from the project's initiation through to its completion. Your key responsibilities will include establishing and managing site-wide HSE systems, leading inductions, audits, and investigations, and collaborating closely with the Construction Manager and project team to enhance safety performance.
You will also monitor site training records to ensure continuous compliance, lead and mentor a small HSE team consisting of two Coordinators, and review subcontractor work packs to verify compliance with safety legislation and site requirements. Additionally, you will implement and maintain permit-to-work systems and plant inductions.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need a Level 6 Health and Safety qualification, along with ICAM and ESC training. A minimum of 10 years' experience in civil infrastructure or heavy construction environments is essential, as well as expert knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, the Resource Management Act, and environmental compliance frameworks. Practical experience in managing safety systems, conducting audits, leading investigations, and implementing risk control measures is also required.
