About the Role We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Foreman to join our team in Christchurch. This pivotal role involves ensuring that our workshop operates smoothly, efficiently, and adheres to the highest standards of safety and quality. What You'll Be Doing Supervising and Leading In this role, you will lead and support a skilled team of technicians and apprentices, overseeing their workloads and progress. You will be responsible for training, mentoring, and challenging the team to enhance their skills continuously. Quality control checks will be part of your duties, ensuring that all work exceeds customer expectations. Additionally, you will assist the Service Manager in managing workshop profitability, conducting rework investigations, and approving additional costs. Maintaining equipment, stocking workshop materials, and fostering open communication within the team are also key responsibilities. Technical Knowledge Staying current with vehicle servicing and repair standards is essential. You will perform diagnostics, servicing, adjustments, and repairs using service manuals and specialized tools. Attending training and courses will be necessary to keep your technical skills sharp. Health, Safety & Environment Promoting a safe, clean, and compliant work environment is a priority. You will lead toolbox meetings as needed and proactively identify potential hazards. It is important to maintain workshop practices that minimize environmental impact. Customer Service Clear and professional communication with staff, customers, and the service team is crucial. You will focus on delivering quality workmanship on time, every time, and be proactive in resolving issues to keep jobs on track. What You'll Bring To be successful in this role, you will need: - A Heavy Diesel Mechanical Qualification - A clean New Zealand driver’s license (minimum Class 4) - At least 5 years of experience as an automotive technician, with demonstrated leadership abilities - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - A hands-on, practical approach complemented by strong problem-solving capabilities - Organizational skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team Benefits We offer competitive pay rates along with overtime at time-and-a-half.
