    About the Company At Extrastaff, we are a leading Labour Hire Company dedicated to connecting skilled professionals with exciting opportunities in the construction industry. About the Role We are currently seeking full-time Construction Technicians to join our team for deployment on various infrastructure and commercial construction projects across New Zealand. These positions are permanent, and site locations will be determined based on project demand. We offer competitive pay, with hourly rates ranging from a minimum of $26.00 to a maximum of $40.00, along with a guaranteed minimum of 30 hours of work per week. We also provide personal protective equipment (PPE) and tools necessary for the job. Key Responsibilities As a Construction Technician, your responsibilities will include: - Performing tasks that align with your skills and capabilities to support our business operations. - Complying with all aspects of contracts, projects, or tasks and delivering customer service that meets or exceeds expectations. - Erecting scaffolding or ladders for assembling structures above ground level. - Creating structures, forms, or chutes and pouring concrete. - Covering subfloors with building paper to prevent moisture and installing hardwood, parquet, or wood-strip-block floors. - Filling cracks or defects in plaster or plasterboard and sanding patches. - Positioning and securing steel bars, rods, cables, or mesh in concrete forms. - General laboring duties, including cleaning construction sites as directed by managers. - Loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment, and transporting them across construction sites. - Performing any other duties as assigned. Requirements To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following skills and experience: - Previous experience in the construction industry is preferable but not essential. - A friendly demeanor, strong time management skills, and an excellent work ethic are essential. - A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry. - Sound knowledge of health and safety procedures. - Reliability and a strong work ethic. - Ability to fabricate and install custom joinery and cabinetry. - Experience in general framing, fix-outs, door hanging, skirting, and architraves. - Precision in measuring and cutting materials. - Ability to work effectively as part of a team. - Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient workspace. - Willingness to collaborate with other trades as needed. - Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test. Nationwide Opportunity and Travel While this role is listed in Whanganui-Manawatu, we are recruiting for positions across all regions of New Zealand, depending on project requirements. The regions include: North Island: Northland, Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu-Whanganui, Wellington. South Island: Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, Southland. We invite applicants from any of these regions who are willing to travel or relocate as needed.
