We are excited to announce the upcoming opening of our brand-new PAK’nSAVE in Rolleston in October 2025. Our mission is to become the best low-cost supermarket in New Zealand, serving one of the country’s fastest-growing communities with exceptional value and service. As we prepare for this new venture, we are looking for a skilled and passionate Deli Manager and Deli 2IC to lead our Deli team.
About the Role: Deli Manager
As our Deli Manager, you will play a crucial role in shaping a delicatessen that reflects quality and care, with pride evident in every product. You will be responsible for planning daily operations, managing food preparation and presentation, and ensuring our deli cabinets are consistently stocked with fresh, appealing items that meet customer expectations.
In this role, you will:
- Coach and guide your team during busy shifts while maintaining high standards for food safety, presentation, and customer service.
- Foster a positive, people-first environment where excellent food and teamwork are integral to our success.
- Manage inventory effectively, reduce waste, and make informed decisions to keep operations running smoothly.
- Build staff rosters and oversee day-to-day operations to ensure that the right team members are in place at the right times.
About the Role: Deli 2IC
As our Deli 2IC, you will provide essential support to the Deli Manager and the team, ensuring that operations remain on track, especially when the Manager is unavailable. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will help maintain productivity and service quality in the deli.
In this role, you will:
- Step in to lead the team when necessary, keeping morale high and maintaining momentum.
- Support daily operations with a calm, team-oriented mindset that promotes organization and efficiency within the deli.
Both roles will require working either a Saturday or Sunday shift, and start dates will be staggered leading up to our October opening. We will confirm hours and dates with successful applicants before finalizing their roles.
Requirements
We are seeking experienced leaders who bring energy, structure, and accountability to their teams, whether in the Manager position or as the 2IC. Ideally, you will:
- Have proven experience in a leadership or 2IC role within a similar department, preferably in a supermarket or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) setting.
- Be confident in managing staff, inventory, suppliers, and compliance requirements.
- Understand how to cultivate a team culture based on trust, performance, and exceptional service.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills, approachability, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Recognize the importance of food safety, stock control, and meeting customer expectations.
