About the Role We are currently seeking a consultant anaesthetist to join our supportive and collaborative team on a part-time basis, covering a period of sabbatical leave. This role requires a commitment of 68 hours per fortnight (0.85 FTE) and is fixed-term until December 2025. Our hospital provides a collegial work environment with a variety of surgical and medical specialties, catering to a diverse patient population. About the Team/Service/Location Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital is located in Hastings on the east coast of New Zealand's North Island. As a large, secondary-level, 400-bed accredited public facility, we deliver both acute and elective care to a region with over 176,000 residents. Our department is known for its diverse and challenging case mix. Over the past decade, Hawke's Bay has experienced substantial population growth and demographic changes, leading to an expansion of our services. The next few years promise to be exciting as we adapt to these changes and enhance our facilities. Additionally, the private healthcare sector in Hawke's Bay is growing rapidly, providing further opportunities for health professionals to expand their practice. The neighboring Royston and Kaweka private hospitals are conveniently located near our facility. About You The ideal candidate will hold either a FANZCA qualification or an equivalent qualification that allows for specialist registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ).
