Excavator Operator – ANTARCTICA

About the Company Tradestaff Global is excited to announce an opportunity for experienced Excavator Operators to join our team at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the Summer 2025/26 season. This unique role will offer you the chance to work in one of the most remote and stunning environments in the world. About the Role We are looking for dedicated individuals who are ready for a challenging yet rewarding experience. The deployment period is anticipated to run from approximately October 2025 to March 2026. As part of the construction team, you will be operating 30–50T excavators on a significant commercial building project in a high-risk environment. Your responsibilities will include not only operating heavy machinery but also engaging in general site work when necessary. Being a team player and willing to assist your colleagues is essential. Experience with dozers, loaders, or rollers will be considered a valuable asset for this position. Requirements To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following requirements: - Hold a WTR (Wheels, Tracks, and Rollers) endorsement and a Class 2 Licence - Have proven experience operating large excavators in civil, roading, or construction settings - Provide an up-to-date CV detailing your experience, including machine sizes, brands, and examples of projects you have worked on Please note that due to travel restrictions, we can only accept applications from New Zealand and US citizens who hold New Zealand or US passports and are currently residing and working in New Zealand. Additionally, candidates must be willing to receive the Flu, Tdap, and MMR vaccinations. This role requires a commitment to long hours, working six days a week, and it is important to understand that these positions are not fly-in, fly-out arrangements. Candidates must also pass medical and dental checks, obtain security clearance, and adhere to a pre-employment drug and alcohol test. A clean criminal record is necessary, and the application process may be lengthy, requiring patience and attention to detail. Benefits In exchange for your hard work, we offer a competitive hourly rate of $73.64, with contracts paid fortnightly in New Zealand dollars based on a 54-hour work week. We provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, shared accommodation, food, and travel insurance. All personal protective equipment (PPE) will also be supplied.
