About the Role
We are currently seeking an Allied Health Safe Staffing Coordinator to join our team in the Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury and Te Tai o Poutini West Coast regions. This is a full-time permanent position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week), although we are open to considering a part-time option (0.5 FTE, 20 hours per week). In this role, you will be part of the Allied Health Scientific Technical (AHST) Workforce Team and will be co-located with the wider Waitaha Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) Team at the Manawa building in the Te Papa Hauora Health Precinct. The AHST Workforce Team plays a crucial role in coordinating, facilitating, and leading workforce-related projects across the two districts. You will help ensure strong transalpine connections and alignment, supporting nearly 2,500 staff members, which is the second largest workforce after nursing and midwifery in our districts.
As the Allied Health Safe Staffing Coordinator, you will be responsible for the continuation and growth of safe staffing methodologies and processes across the various operational structures in Waitaha Canterbury and Te Tai o Poutini West Coast. You will coordinate people and processes to maintain the Allied Health Safe Staffing and CCDM program, ensuring that activities are sequenced effectively for timely delivery.
You will work closely with various partners to coordinate program components and interdependencies. Collaboration with the Directors of Allied Health and the Nursing Director of Care Capacity Demand is essential to identify potential risks and navigate arising issues. Timely project communications and adherence to the agreed workplan timelines will also be your responsibility, facilitating scheduling, feedback, and reporting.
We are looking for someone who is committed to the Allied Health Scientific Technical field in our regions and who can work in partnership with the Directors of Allied Health to develop the structures needed to support the overall Safe Staffing and CCDM program. Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
- At least five years of clinical experience in a relevant Allied Health professional role, ideally across a range of patient pathways.
- Knowledge and experience working with the components of the Allied Health Care Capacity Demand Management (CCDM) program.
- Proven leadership and project management skills, along with clinical experience.
- Flexibility and comfort in working across teams, divisions, and district boundaries.
- Competency in te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or a commitment to embarking on this learning journey.
- Familiarity with relevant information technology and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- A qualification in an Allied Health profession recognized by the respective New Zealand Regulatory Authority and professional body, along with a current practicing certificate and membership in the relevant professional organization.
