About the Role
We are currently seeking a qualified Social Worker or addictions counsellor for a part-time position in Kaitaia. This role involves working with Tangata Whai Ora in a community setting to help reduce the harm associated with alcohol and/or other drug use. You will be part of a specialist team focused on the Meth Demand Reduction program.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide casework that delivers integrated care for individuals experiencing co-existing issues related to addiction and mental health.
- Facilitate group sessions to support participants.
- Work within the framework of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme Model of Treatment.
- Implement the policies and procedures of The Salvation Army Bridge Programme.
- Transport Tangata Whai Ora to and from treatment providers as needed.
Person Specification
- A Level 4 Certificate in Mental Health and Addictions or an equivalent qualification.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- A strong understanding of cross-cultural dynamics, including knowledge of Te Reo me nga Tikanga.
- DAPAANZ Registration.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development relevant to addiction studies.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, sharing information and best practices while ensuring client privacy and confidentiality.

This is a permanent part-time position offering 32 hours of work per week. The starting salary for this role is $49,250 per annum, and it is covered by a pay equity agreement.
