Description
About the Company
Tradestaff Global is a leading provider of workforce solutions in the construction industry. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from qualified and experienced Telehandler and Skid-Steer Operators to work at McMurdo Station in Antarctica for the Summer season of 2025/26. This is an extraordinary opportunity to experience one of the most remote and stunning locations on Earth.
About the Role
The deployments are expected to take place from approximately October 2025 through March 2026. These roles require resilience and a strong work ethic, as you will be living and working in an isolated environment for an extended period.
In this position, you will be part of a large commercial construction project, contributing to the delivery of materials and assisting the Logistics Supervisor with day-to-day operations. You will also operate plant machinery, including Bobcats, Telehandlers, and Utes. To qualify, you must hold a Class 2 Driver License with WTR Endorsements.
Requirements
Please note that due to travel restrictions, only New Zealand and US citizens with valid New Zealand or US passports currently residing and working in New Zealand may apply.
Additionally, you will need to be comfortable receiving vaccinations for Flu, Tdap, and MMR. The roles require a long-term commitment on the ice, as they are not FIFO (fly-in, fly-out) positions.
Expect to work long hours, six days a week. Start dates are approximate and subject to medical and dental checks, security clearance, your notice period, and ice flight availability. You will also need to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and maintain a clean criminal record.
The application process can be lengthy, so patience is essential. You must be prepared to travel to Tauranga for medical and dental exams, and we will cover the costs of testing and flights if you are coming from outside the Bay of Plenty.
Benefits
We offer a competitive hourly wage of $66.11, with payments made on a contract basis, paid fortnightly in NZD for a total of 54 hours per week. All necessary PPE will be supplied, and we provide flights from any major New Zealand airport, food, shared accommodation, and travel insurance.
This opportunity allows you to work hard while earning well, save money, gain invaluable experience, and forge lasting friendships. If this is an adventure you have always wanted to pursue, we encourage you to apply.
