About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, organized, and tech-savvy individual for a pivotal role within our organization. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely completion of payroll and billing tasks, all while maintaining compliance with legislative requirements and company policies. This position will report directly to the Group Financial Controller.
Key Duties
In this role, you will provide professional support, mentorship, and management to all staff reporting to you. You will develop an in-depth knowledge of our payroll system, enabling you to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.
Your expertise in payroll will be crucial in ensuring compliance with all aspects of the payroll process. You will serve as the payroll legislation expert for our business, ensuring that weekly payroll and billing are completed accurately and on time.
Building and maintaining strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be essential. You will also act as the point of contact for any escalated payroll queries and identify opportunities to streamline day-to-day processes. Additionally, you will perform general accounting tasks as required.
Requirements
To be successful in this position, you should have at least 5 years of experience in a payroll role. Experience managing a successful team in a fast-paced environment is crucial, along with proactive organizational skills and strong analytical/problem-solving abilities.
You should have prior experience with complex or multi-award payroll systems, preferably in the healthcare sector, and possess excellent attention to detail. The ability to prioritize tasks effectively and juggle multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
A comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand payroll legislation is required, as well as an understanding of databases and the ability to critically screen data for discrepancies or errors. Proficiency in MS Excel is necessary, along with some knowledge of billing processes and accounting systems. Familiarity with Xero software is an advantage.
Excellent people and communication skills are also essential for this role.
