About the Role
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Christchurch regional finance team. This position plays a pivotal role within our Finance and Administration team, supporting the region in achieving its business objectives and ensuring ongoing success.
In this role, you will collaborate with management at all levels, assisting them with their finance and administration requirements. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on financial performance
- Helping to embed our new finance system at both the finance and operational levels
- Assisting in the development of accurate operational and capital budgets and forecasts
- Supporting the Finance Manager in business planning and the development of new business strategies
- Analyzing and interpreting trends to provide proactive financial, accounting, and administration advice to the business
- Managing and developing the wider accounting team, including mentoring our graduate accountants
- Leading initiatives to improve processes, systems, and procedures, including training on management reporting tools
- Collaborating with the business to develop business cases for capital investment
- Enhancing reporting on sustainability initiatives
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- CA or CPA qualification, or progress towards one
- A minimum of 5 years of management accountant experience
- Strong commercial awareness and financial acumen, with the ability to balance strategic and operational activities
- Excellent analytical skills with the capacity to review and critique financial information
- Effective time management skills to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- A strong team focus with the ability to coach, guide, develop, and lead effectively
- Experience in implementing and leading process improvements
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively at various levels, fostering strong internal and external relationships
